Houman Ghorbani was born in Tabriz, Iran, in 1988. He received the BSc degree from the University of Tabriz, Tabriz, Iran, and the MSc degree from Amirkabir University of Technology (Tehran Polytechnic), Tehran, Iran, both in Electrical Engineering, in 2010 and 2014, respectively. He studied the theory of electromagnetic waves and did research on design, simulation, and measurement of passive microwave components and antenna elements.
Houman started his PhD in Electrical Engineering in January 2017 at the University of Ottawa, Ottawa, ON, where he joined Photonics Technology Research Laboratory at the Center for Research in Photonics in July 2018. Now, he is working on the design, simulation, and measurement of photonics devices and circuits. He is the recipient of the Full International Scholarship from the University of Ottawa.
Other than research, Houman loves history, cosmology and also aquatic sports such as canoeing, rafting and jet skiing!
